Cycle the Savage: a Family Biking Adventure
You and/or your family will have the opportunity to experience the scenery and majestic surroundings on your bike as you ride three loops for a total of 20 miles along the Savage River, Big Run State Park and the Savage River Dam. It all begins at the pavilion at Big Run State Park and you can feel free to ride as many loops as you want. Every loop will intersect with the Celebration Village where there will be complimentary snacks and water. There will also be water along the various loops at strategic locations.
The ‘Cycle the Savage’ presented by Weimer Automotive is NOT a race and all riders are encouraged to ride at their own pace and to stop and rest as much as you want. Even though the start of the ride will be at 10:00
am it is not a hard start. You can leisurely make your way to the start area but the event will only be supported until 2:00 pm.
The Savage River Loop is 8 miles around with small rolling hills and is almost completely under canopy.
The Big Run loop is flat and fast as it winds its way through the best foliage and rugged sights that Garrett County, MD has to offer for a total of 8 miles.
The Dam Loop is a short 4-mile hilly route that oversees the famous Savage River Dam.
The epicenter of the first and hopefully annual ‘Cycle the Savage’ presented by Weimer Automotive is the Celebration Village located at the Start/Finish. Relax in the giant pavilion before, during and after the event. Enjoy complimentary snacks and water. You will also be able to purchase hotdogs, funnel cakes and other festival delights.
This event benefits the Frances Ann SHaw Memorial Scholarship and the David H. Shaw Memorial Scholarship.Date and Time
