Working with Group Tour Partners

While no two group tours are exactly the same, Rich Gilbert, Travel Trade Sales Manager from the Maryland Office of Tourism, will provide you with the basic knowledge of working with motorcoach operators and group tour planners.  He will also provide insightful information on increasing tour business and steering it to non-peak time periods.  Hear first-hand from a local motorcoach operator on best practices. Rich Gilbert has worked for the Maryland Office of Tourism since May 1987.  His current job responsibility is directing the sales efforts for Maryland, concentrating on the travel trade program.  This includes working with motorcoach and tour operators, reunion planners, meeting planners and group travel leaders to bring their tour, convention or reunion to Maryland.  Working with Capital Region USA (DC, MD & VA), Rich also works with promoting the region to the international travelers.
 
Rich works to create partnerships with the Maryland tourism industry community in developing business selling opportunities, such as sales blitzes, sales calls, familiarization tours, booth co-operative opportunities and providing technical assistance with marketing plans.
