    About Us

Max and Katharine and family have been creating Backbone Food Farm from scratch since 1999! Taking an organic approach to both growing methods and the overall big picture, the farm has grown to be a diverse space with room for plenty. Regenerative and organic methods are the foundation of our farming practices, allowing us to harvest and market healthy produce, gourmet mushrooms, small fruits, pasture raised meats, cut flowers and CBD rich medicinal hemp.

To feed the spirit, we offer live music and cultural events in our outdoor venue space. We host Farm Camp for kids 4-12 one week a year. To fill the belly we feature a smash burger stand at the Oakland market, as well as at our events. We also host several Farm to Table meal events throughout the growing season.

Contact us for more information about a custom event for your youth or school group.

You can purchase our products though our CSA, at local Oakland, Thomas and Morgantown markets, and through our online pre-order service.
